Introduction
This course presents the basic concepts and up-to-date techniques of advanced fire fighting systems. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of managers, engineers, assistants, and all technical personnel involved in the operation, maintenance, installation of new systems, and troubleshooting of existing systems. The course starts with reviewing fires, classifications of hazards, and the principles of fire extinguishment. It covers the different types of fire alarms and fire fighting systems. The main features, applications, advantages, and disadvantages of each system are explored. The instructor will analyze and discuss with the participants some of the field cases and typical fires to highlight the cause, loss, and impact of these cases. Design cases of sprinkler and carbon dioxide systems will be presented at the end of the course.
Objectives
- Reduce the potential for death or injury
- Control or extinguish the fire
- Limit the extent of property involved
- Minimize the damage to property within the fire-affect-
- Ed area
Training Methodology
This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
