Introduction
This five-day course will take participants through a comprehensive look at the functions of drilling fluids systems. It will address how to engineer a mud system, as well as cover water based, oil based, and synthetic mud systems.
The core content of this course will cover all the main pillars of drilling fluids activities linked to drilling and completion operations, with safety best practices being a primary focus throughout the course.
Objectives
- Learn about the functions of drilling fluids and the composition of water based mud
- Learn about oil and synthetic based mud products and systems
- Learn about lost circulation and stuck pipe problems and solutions
- Learn about hole cleaning, hydraulics calculations, real time measurements, and reservoir drilling fluid systems
By the end of this course, participants will learn to:
Training Methodology
The course is delivered in a combination of lecture-style and computer-based training. In addition, a significant amount of time is set aside for small working group activity when addressing case study problems. Extensive use is made of case study material to underline the key aspects of the course and to give the delegates exposure to current best practice.
Who Should Attend?
This course is intended for all geologists, geophysicists, petroleum, reservoir, drilling engineers with a basic knowledge of well design principles.
